Well of course the new year is here and resolution time is top of everyone's mind. So of course, Lorey and I are no different ... just refreshed our commitment level to really get moving and eating healthy. We've made a pact to get together every Wednesday (barring work travel) to do some physical activity together. Last week I drove out to Vienna as a kick start and we did 30 minutes of cardio on the elliptical before hitting the pool for 3o minutes of swimming.
I've also signed up for the Y Tri newbie program that kicks off in February. Basically it is an intensive 19 week training regimen to get you to your first Olympic distance triathlon. They are having time trials for the swimming portion over the next two weeks ... if you can't swim 300 M in 8 minutes, then you can't join. Uh-oh! I have been practicing my swimming as a result. Swimming is not my biggest area of weakness ... running by far is. But, the bar will definitely be raised and I'm looking forward to the camaraderie and challenge of being held accountable four days a week.
Over the holidays I've begun to reshape my philosophy towards eating ... and trying to see food intake as more of a way to fuel the body properly. How can I run/bike/swim unless I am providing the necessary nutrients to start the engine effectively. Coupled with my acupuncture (to relieve pain and create a sense of balance), I now have no excuses, and instead just the right amount of tools required for success.
Stay tuned!
